August 2023

The crickets sang in the grasses. They sang the song of summer’s ending, a sad, monotonous song. “Summer is over and gone,” they sang. “Over and gone, over and gone. Summer is dying, dying.” The crickets felt it was their duty to warn everybody that summertime cannot last forever. Even on the most beautiful days in the whole year – the days when summer is changing into fall – the crickets spread the rumor of sadness and change.

I always find myself thinking of these lines around this time of year. Something about this season feels particularly melancholy to me.

I don’t know enough about cameras to know if it’s a commonly used one or anything, but the camera I have is very similar to yours – mine’s an OM-2n

    1. I’m not overly up on the gear side of things either, but I did a fair amount of research before buying a film camera and the whole OM series seems great – Olympus gets less love than some of the other brands out there, but I’ve had a really good experience with mine. Would love to see some of your photos sometime!
